Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions people actually ask — inviting people to boards, renaming columns, reopening and re-running retros, votes, and what migrated from the old platform.

Quick answers and links to the steps you need.

Open Share and choose a team, your workspace, or a guest link mode. Workspace members can participate with or without a paid seat. For outside guests, choose whether email verification is required. See Inviting participants and guest links.

Why does it say “join the board before adding cards”?

Section titled “Why does it say “join the board before adding cards”?”

A board uses workspace access by default. People with access still need to join before posting. Use the Join control on the board — or the guest link if you’re not in the workspace. See Inviting participants and guest links.

From the team’s detail page, with Add People. See Teams and groups. Someone not yet in the workspace needs an invitation first: Invite users and seats.

Yes — on an active board, the retro’s creator or current facilitator selects the column title and edits it. Adding and removing columns works too; reordering and recolouring do not. See Cards, columns, votes, and comments.

Workspace admins select Reopen retro from the closed board’s summary. The control is only available to workspace admins. See Closing a retro.

Run it again next sprint starts a fresh board from the same format. It does not copy the previous session’s feedback. See Closing a retro.

No — there is no delete control. Close it instead; closing freezes the board, keeps everything readable, and drops it out of the active list. See Closing a retro.

No control resets a card’s votes. Each voter can take back their own with the un-vote control, and that’s the only way votes come off a card. See Timer and votes.

As long as you want. An active board has no time limit and never closes itself — it stays open until a facilitator ends the retro, which makes multi-day and asynchronous retros perfectly workable. For async input without a board at all, a survey may fit better: see Your first survey.

Paste the image’s URL into the card — a URL ending .gif, .png, .jpg, .jpeg, or .webp renders inline. There is no image picker or GIF search. See Cards, columns, votes, and comments.

Where did my projects from the old platform go?

Section titled “Where did my projects from the old platform go?”

The old platform’s projects were not migrated — boards arrive individually. The current way to see several teams together is a group: see Teams and groups and Migrating legacy boards.

Why can’t I edit a published survey’s questions?

Section titled “Why can’t I edit a published survey’s questions?”

Published questions are locked to keep responses tied to the question people answered. Duplicate the survey to make a revised version. See Manage surveys.

No. Participants answer through a survey link. Seat Holders use the workspace to create and review feedback. See Core concepts.

Guided retros use Blind voting by default. Totals appear during Review. See The Vote phase.

Can I choose Ask sources before sending a question?

Section titled “Can I choose Ask sources before sending a question?”

Yes. Select the surveys or retros you want Ask to use, then send your question. See Choose Ask sources.

Publishing and sharing do not create responses. Participants must finish any required verification and submit their answers. Open the intended survey and check its state, links, and Responses section. See Responses and transcripts.

No. The default expiration is seven days from issue. Changing the default does not extend links already issued. The response edit window is separate, normally 24 hours after submission. See Sharing and expiration.

Why is an AI summary different from the raw answers?

Section titled “Why is an AI summary different from the raw answers?”

A summary condenses feedback and may cover fewer responses than the current list. Check the original answers, the response count, and whether a newer brief is available. See Feedback summaries.
