Teams and groups
ScatterSpoke has two levels of structure above an individual person.
- A team holds people. It is where boards, retros, and team-level reporting live.
- A group holds teams — and other groups. It exists to aggregate: signals and themes roll up across everything beneath it.
Both features require the Business or Enterprise plan (the TEAMS and GROUPS entitlements). On Free and Pro these pages render a blurred preview behind an upgrade prompt.
Create a team
Section titled “Create a team”- Go to
/settings/teams. - Select Create Team.
- Enter a team name and select Create Team.
The list shows each team’s member count and creation date. Selecting a row opens the team’s detail page.
Add people to a team
Section titled “Add people to a team”From a team’s detail page, select Add People. The dialog has two tabs.
Add Members lists existing workspace users who aren’t already on the team, with a search box. Select Add next to anyone to add them immediately.
Invite Link generates a link that adds whoever opens it to the workspace and to this team in one step. Use Regenerate to invalidate the current link and issue a new one.
The first tab moves people who already hold a seat. The second brings in new people, which consumes seats — see Invite users and seats.
To remove someone, use the row menu on the members list and choose Remove from Team. That removes them from the team only; they keep their workspace access and their seat.
Rename or delete a team
Section titled “Rename or delete a team”On the team detail page, the pencil control next to Team Name switches it to an editable field with Save and Cancel.
Delete Team archives the team. The confirmation warns that it cannot be undone.
Create a group
Section titled “Create a group”- Go to
/settings/groups. - Select Create Group.
- Enter a group name and select Create Group.
A new group starts empty — you add its members afterwards.
Add teams and groups to a group
Section titled “Add teams and groups to a group”Open the group and use the Members card. It lists everything available to add, filtered by an All / Team / Group tab and a search box. Select what belongs in the group and save.
Two things follow from groups being able to contain groups:
- Hierarchies can be several levels deep. A group of groups of teams is valid, and the rollup resolves all the way down to the leaf teams.
- Cycles are rejected. Adding a group that would make the hierarchy loop back on itself fails with “Cannot add this group — it would create a circular reference.”
A team that belongs to one or more groups shows those groups as badges on its own detail page, and the badges link back.
What a group gives you
Section titled “What a group gives you”The group detail page carries a Signals Overview (Last 30 Days) card, which is the reason to build the structure in the first place. It reports:
- how many teams sit beneath the group, resolved recursively through any nested groups
- how many aggregated signals were detected across them
- the top themes, with an event count for each
That aggregation is what a group buys you: a signal too thin to surface on one team’s page can be clear once several teams’ feedback is counted together. See Signals.
Delete a group
Section titled “Delete a group”Delete Group removes the group itself. Its members — the teams and nested groups inside it — are unaffected: they leave the group but are not deleted.
